Coffea arabica makes a fun, compact indoor plant with glossy, dark green, wavy-edged leaves held on upright stems. The foliage is dense and lustrous, and in the right conditions it produces clusters of small, intensely fragrant white flowers followed by green berries that ripen to red. Do not expect a meaningful harvest indoors, but the fragrance alone is worth it. It is a neat, well-behaved grower that fits into a bright room without taking over.

Origins
Native to the highland forests of Ethiopia and South Sudan, Coffea arabica grows as an understorey shrub in warm, humid, shaded conditions at elevations between 1,000 and 2,000 metres.

Soil and Substrate
Our Jungle Potting Mix provides a well-draining, peat-free blend that suits coffee plants well. Keep the substrate consistently moist but not waterlogged.
