Traditionally used for ikebana flower displays, these Kenzan flower frogs are becoming increasingly popular for western style flower arranging, doing away with florist’s foam completely. The brass pins are strong enough for woody material as well as soft green and grass stems.

Materials:brass, lead, rubber base*

*small kenzan does not have a rubber base

Made by:Niwaki

Made in:Japan

Specifications:

small: 1.4″ (36mm)
medium: 2.4″ (61mm)
large: 3.1″ (80mm)

Use:

Make criss-cross cuts into the bottom of larger twigs, to stick them in more easily.
Lower into water in saucers or dishes, and top up water level daily.

Further Reading: Niwaki (knee-whacky) means garden tree. In Japan, gardens are both landscapes and microcosms of nature. Shaping and caring for these landscapes is an art form, and having the correct tools is essential. Niwakis tools exemplify the good design and quality construction that we look for as purveyors.
