Monstera obliqua ‘Yasuni’ Thai Form

Monstera obliqua ‘Yasuni’ Thai Form is the famous “more hole than leaf” obliqua, one of the most coveted and delicate aroids in cultivation. Its thin, papery leaves carry such enormous natural fenestrations that far more of each blade is open space than green, giving the plant its unmistakable lace-like look. As a climbing aroid it grows best trained up a slimmoss pole or support.

Origins
True Monstera obliqua hails from the rainforests of Central and South America, with the ‘Yasuni’ form tracing back to plants from Ecuador’s Yasuni National Park. This particular plant is the Thai Form, becoming more common in Thai nurseries and distinct from the form grown at Lyon Botanic Garden.

Humidity and Environment
This is a true terrarium, greenhouse or plant-cabinet species. It needs consistently very high humidity of around 70 percent or more, warmth and stable conditions, along with bright, indirect light. In an open, centrally heated room the papery leaves quickly brown and collapse, so an enclosed, humid environment is strongly recommended.

Soil and Substrate
