Selaginella uncinata, commonly known as the Peacock Fern, produces dense, creeping mats of delicate, fern-like foliage with an iridescent blue-green sheen that changes depending on the angle of the light. It is not actually a fern but a lycophyte, part of an ancient lineage of plants that predates the dinosaurs. It stays low and spreading, making it an excellent ground cover in a terrarium or a textural accent in a humid display. It thrives in the same conditions that many tropical plants enjoy: warmth, humidity, and indirect light.

Origins
Native to southern China, Selaginella uncinata grows on damp, shaded forest floors and rocky outcrops in warm, humid conditions.

Soil and Substrate
Our Fern Potting Mix provides a suitable base for moisture retention.
